According to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory of the US, regularly used commercial lawnmowers can consume more fuel than a typical car. A commercial lawnmower used regularly can consume as much as 2000 gallons of fuel a year, more than 4 times as much as a typical car consumes in a year.
What this means is that switching to a mower that uses alternative source of energy, like electricity can reduce fuel consumption in a big way and also promote a “green image” for the company involved.
In 2009, Google used goats to keep the gardens in its Mountain View, California headquarters, free of weeds. It employed a flock of 200 goats and paid almost the same price as a moving service. While, not everybody can employ goats like Google did, we can reduce fuel consumption by using electric lawnmowers.
