Family gardening
Gardening as an activity becomes a bonding agent for a family if the whole family is involved in it. Regardless of the differences of age you can involve all your family members in gardening. Also you should implement changes in your garden as per the changing needs of your family.

Given below are some tips to make a successful family garden.

Layout

Generate ideas about all the features and areas that you want to build and possess in your garden. Place a hard surfaced area next to the house to provide a link between the house and the garden. This increases the definiteness of your garden slot. Materials should not be considered much as it is dynamic in nature. A paved path circuit around the garden is helpful space. It becomes a great shield for vehicles to be parked.

Grass plot

Leave larger space for ball games, etc. A provision for adding a greenhouse should be made which then can be used at a later stage when actually needed.

Chambers

A provision of making compartments should be made for children as they love secret places for their plays. For larger gardens, use the lawns to create shapes and designs for the secret corners, whereas for smaller gardens, a simple open area is the only best alternative.

Multi utility items

Using the garden for more than one purpose is very important for small gardens. Stouts or big tree branches can be used as ropes, scrambling nets or hammocks. Make football goals with the help of plant supporters. A provision for the outdoor storage for toys should be made available for the children. Occasional use of barbecues also had to the utility of the garden.

Water, Sand and Soft surfaces

If a swimming pool is to be inherited, then it should first be fenced with metal grid below the surface of the water. Child safety should be the initial precaution while designing water features in a new garden. Sand pits which are trenched can be converted into ponds at the initial or gradual stage. Building tree houses or swings in the gardens can prove to be expensive and may need expert installation.

Plantation

Fast growing seeds should be used to build jungles and dens with thickets. Areas that get scuffed and scraped can be protected by installing netlon turf mesh just below the lawn surface for the grass to grow through. Also, always use an all-purpose seed to stand through the wear and tear. Avoid plants which cause irritation to the skin or eye like poisonous berries.

Set up a children’s garden

Make a small plot for fast growing plants. Grow children friendly plants like radish, sweet peas, sunflowers, pumpkins, etc. As children get older or lose interest in their piece of land, you can convert it to your garden plants and climbers.
